Certificate of Satisfaction
After paying off your county court judgements you can avail certificate of satisfaction. If you cannot pay the amount in full right away, but can do so later, then apply to the court for a Certificate of Satisfaction, you will be charged only £10. The CCJs will remain on your file for 6 years but potential lenders can see you have paid the debt and ability to pay it later also.
County Court Judgments that are paid within one month are removed from your records as long as a Certificate of Satisfaction has been issued by the court. Judgments that are paid after one month are kept on file but the certificate of satisfaction is issued by the court.
The record of your bankruptcy will remain for the six years after the date of the bankrupt order. Credit reference agencies will obtain this information from the court.
If you have any doubt that county court judgment, or CCJ, has been recorded inaccurately, you should contact the county court, quoting the case number included on your file. In case, the judgment was recorded wrongly, the county court will revise their records. Within four weeks, credit reference agencies are informed about any such changes.
Nevertheless, if you give them original court documents, in the form of a Certificate of Satisfaction, they may be able to make the changes sooner if required.
